I just love Spring and I am so ready for it to hit. I just love so many things about this particular season. The weather is getting warmer, everyone is just a little more cheerful and once those flowers start blooming it’s just about perfect to start getting to those fun spring activities. What is your favorite thing to do in the spring? I personally have several favorites including getting outside, walking and enjoying the beautiful spring colors. I also love seeing all of the kids outside playing again after being stuck inside for a few months. There are just so many great things about spring to enjoy, not the least of which is the fact that friends and family get together more often again. Yes, many of us spend a lot of time over the holidays with our families, but once springtime hits, it’s a different setting and mindset.
One of my favorite spring get togethers to have is brunch and boy oh boy do we have the perfect selection of items that will help a brunch come together perfectly. I mean, who doesn’t love to have a delicious meal surrounded by sunshine and friends? Especially when you have created the beautiful meal. Isn’t there just something so great about knowing that your friends and family are enjoying something you made for them?
If you have never found yourself hosting a brunch, it is time to start planning one. It is fun to do, brunch recipes are amazing, and many people enjoy having an excuse to have an early day cocktail (mimosas and bloody mary drinks are popular brunch cocktails). Whatever you eat or drink, just know that you are likely to have a great time!
Brunch originally came to be during the 19th century in England, but really became popular in American during the 1930s. You will find that brunch is often the meal of choice offered by hotels to its guests and many casinos and other dining establishments like to offer a Sunday brunch. So as I was saying, it is a very popular tradition that has withstood the test of time. Hosting brunch is great because it’s like having a dinner party without the late night exhaustion that comes with it. Seriously. Who among us likes to be up all night doing dishes from our dinner party? Not me. I would much rather get all of the clean up out of the way early and have the evening to relax.
There is no right or wrong menu for brunch either, you can serve whatever you want, but some of the most popular brunch dishes include quiches and frittatas. If you haven’t made either of these before, you are missing out! To get started with these ideal brunch dishes, you need to be sure and have the proper bakeware to cook with. For these dishes I love to use our Deep Dish Pizza/Pie Baker. I have used a lot of pie pans in my day and this one has been the best for creating flakier, crispier crust in my pies, pizzas and yes, quiches.
If you are ready to create the best quiche ever, we have several delicious recipes posted for your enjoyment.
Cheddar Broccoli Quiche - Your vegetable loving friends are going to flip over this Cheddar Broccoli Quiche. It is filled with tender broccoli and other tasty flavors and topped with delicious cheese. Quiche Lorraine - If you are the type to enjoy a good classic, Quiche Lorraine is for you! Eggs, Bacon, Ham and cheese come together with other delicious flavors to create a delicious, brunch-worthy meal.
If you choose to go the route of a frittata, the glorious world of the internet has so many delicious recipes available for you to try out. I have found several really good ones throughout my searches and my trial and error in preparing the recipes I have found, but this one is my favorite:
Bacon and Brie Frittata. This Bacon and Brie Frittata has become one of my favorite go-to frittatas to make because it’s actually quite easy to create and it tastes delicious! I have used different cheeses in place of the brie depending on what I have on hand and it always tastes great.
If you are still searching for just the right recipe for you, I have found great inspiration and delicious ideas over on Pinterest.
Like I mentioned, we several great tools that will help you to make any of these recipes. In addition to the Pizza/Pie Baker I mentioned before, I suggest using a whisk for best results in mixing your eggs. Also, this Wood Handle Offset Spatula is perfect for scooping out just the right serving of your quiche or frittata. Trust me, you don’t not want to go in with a typical spatula, or worse yet, fork.
So, what do you say? Are you ready to start planning a great brunch?
