Oh my goodness, friends-- it is time to celebrate! It’s a new year and for many of us, that means
it’s time for a new, healthy us!
I don’t know about you, but my eating has taken a seriously negative downturn lately. This girl needs to get back to healthy eating. My issue though? I LOVE PIZZA. That is one of the things I struggle with when it came to cutting out unhealthy foods. Luckily though, I don’t have to do that because lots of pizza is actually good for you!
When Was Pizza Invented?
Many people don’t know it, but pizza has been around for centuries, with the first documentation of
the word pizza being in the year 997 in Gaeta. Although, we can be fairly certain that before pizza made its introduction, ancient Italians prepared
focaccia bread with added toppings for a tasty meal. If you want to make your own version of the
original pizza, start out with this fabulous focaccia bread recipe.

Pizza really became known worldwide though in World War II when allied troops experienced the
meal (and other delicious Italian recipes) for the first time and came to enjoy them and share them
with their loved ones across the oceans and borders.
Let me definitely not be the first to say, thank you Italy!
